Eggs, writing under the nom de plume, Father F. Ignatius von Rheinfelden, relates his experiences as chaplain to the Venetian fleet during the 6th Venetian-Turkic War in 1655. He witnessed the Battle of the Dardanelles, and spent time in the Aegean Islands trying to convert Muslims to Christianity.
